Job Overview

Reporting to Goyard's creative studio, the Leather Goods Designer/ Stylist will contribute to the conception and development of Leather Goods, Small Leather Goods, Soft and Hard Luggage, Belts and Accessories, including Re-editions and Special Orders. This role will enable him/her to craft meaningful pieces embodying Goyard's unique vision.

Key responsibilities

As such, the main responsibilities are:

Product design and development :

Design re-editions and limited editions (animations) according to the strategic directions communicated by Management, in close collaboration with the product development teams:

• Develop the technical, aesthetic, functional and ergonomic aspects of each product/project, respecting the codes of the Maison and the restrictions specific to the project (quality requirements, compliance with regulations and standards),
• Respond to product briefs: produce hand sketches of the different models, as well as visual graphics,
• Produce 1:1 scale models and technical illustrations, respecting the proportions of the illustration in order to provide precise measurements to the design department,
• Provide suggestions for different leather goods structures, offering several alternatives for production/feasibility,
• Monitor the quality of prototypes, with particular attention to finishes, details and durability.

Creative research :

Work closely with the product development team to select/develop new materials:

• Conduct research on iconography, vintages, exhibitions, etc., in order to present innovative and bold creative themes, in line with the spirit of the Maison,
• Creation of mood boards.

Special order :

• Draft sketches and simulations for Special Orders, providing an input following the customer’s brief.

Marquage / personalization :

• Be a driving force when it comes to marquage,
• Respond to briefs on new marquages,
• Create presentation files with graphic simulations.

Required qualifications and skills

Graduate from an art or design school, you have at least 10 years of experience in the designing of luxury leather goods, objects and accessories. You have a strong product awareness and a perfect command of graphic design tools and 3D modeling software. You have a solid knowledge of leatherworking know-how and the ability to design all types of products.

You have an excellent sense of drawing, proportion, composition and color, and are equally at ease with technical drawing (outline, dimensions, standardization, etc.) and freehand sketching. You have a strong sense of object -oriented culture and artistic curiosity.

You are known for your initiative, your curiosity, your extreme attention to detail, your rigor and your ability to be proactive while respecting deadlines. You have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong ability to adapt and a constructive critical mind. You have a capacity for reflection, innovation and creative proposals. You will work as part of a collective in line with our Maison’s values, in a spirit of humility and simplicity. Fluency in English is mandatory.
